East Tennessee Kidney Foundation, Inc.™ Voting Board of Directors

The East Tennessee Kidney Foundation (ETKF) is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors who volunteer their time and expertise to serve this fully local, charitable 501(c)(3) organization. Since ETKF was officially chartered with the State of Tennessee in March 2010, our Board has remained steadfast in honoring the promise to “always remain 100% local” and never merge with a national organization.

This non-compensated Board is made up of community members whose lives have been touched by kidney disease in some way — whether as patients, family members, caregivers, or healthcare professionals. Their personal connection fuels their commitment to ETKF’s mission of supporting kidney patients in our 25-county region. They serve with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering passion for making a tangible difference in the lives of neighbors battling kidney disease.

Through their leadership, advocacy, and hands-on service, ETKF’s Board ensures the organization remains deeply rooted in the community it serves — local people helping local patients.

Kevin Burris

Premier Surgical Associates

I serve and support the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation, Inc.™ because we, at Premier Surgical Associates, serve these patients daily in our practice, see them frequently and come to personally understand the medical and nonmedical needs of each one. CKD places demands on patients and families that go well beyond simple visits to see their physician. The East Tennessee Kidney Foundation, Inc.™ is the only organization in our area that supports these families and their needs for transportation and transplantation preparation working to help them maintain their health and live as “normal” a life as is possible for someone with CKD.

Steven Cakmes, DDS
